What Do Subwoofer measurement means?

Ohm levels or ohm ratings refer to the measurement of resistance to the flow or electricity or current within a circuit. In the case of subwoofer speakers, high resistance values or ohm levels means greater resistance to the flow of current in which the speaker operates and lower values means less resistance to current flow. A typical subwoofer may have a 4 to 8 ohm rating. The values may go as low as 2 ohms and as high as 30 or more ohms. When you intend to have the speaker wired into a sound system, pay attention to its ohm values to make sure that it meets the structure electrical requirements of the system.

Infinity 860w 8-Inch 1000-Watt Subwoofer: 8-inch single voice coil subwoofer with 1000 Watts peak power handling.
By Janggun

Subwoofer Cable it is an analog audio interconnect which is transmit a very low frequency of analog audio signals at the same line level as stereo interconnects. There are noise rejection, low capacitance and solid construction for increased longevity which should be noticed. And the important thing of connector’s quality is the connections themselves, and conductor materials are of primary importance for long lasting quality of all analog cables

The Cable: Blue Jeans Cable LC-1 Analog Audio Cable

It is low-capacitance audio cable. It has an extremely heavy double-braid shield layer for the best possible rejection of induced low-frequency hum, and extremely low capacitance for the flattest possible frequency response. It is thick — about .305 inches in diameter — but is more flexible than comparably-sized cables, and is therefore easy to route around corners and obstacles. Unlike most analog audio cables on the market, too, LC-1 is UL-listed and bears a CM rating under the National Electrical Code, so is suitable for in-wall installation in both residential and commercial environments.

The Connectors: Taversoe Crimp RCA Plugs

Connectors are a critical part of any audio cable, because if the cable isn’t well-joined to the connectors, or if the connectors don’t make firm electrical contact with the jacks, it doesn’t much matter how good the cable is. Our LC-1 cables are terminated with the Taversoe RCA plug, a high-quality RCA plug with an all-metal body and shell specifically designed for the perfect dimensions for use with LC-1. Its all-metal body, crimped tightly to the shield braid, completes the shielding assembly from cable end to cable end, to ensure that the cables do not become an entry point for noise. These plugs are gold-plated on all jack-contact surfaces, and employ a set of leaf-spring style grippers on the outer RCA ring which apply just the right amount of force to the jack to grip it firmly without over tightening.

There are two primary reasons why an otherwise healthy subwoofer may hum, and cables can deal only with one of these: EMI. The other possibility, a ground loop, is something your cables can’t fix, and has to do with differences in ground potential in your system’s power wiring. Although the best and most permanent way to eliminate ground loop hum is by fixing the underlying grounding problem, another simpler way to resolve the problem is to insert an isolation transformer in your subwoofer line to break the ground connection between your source and your subwoofer.

Testing acoustically on home theatre is needed. Testing use for indentifying if there is or not problems with the placement. There are a few ways to do for testing, but the easy and simple is listening your favorite song or music albums. Some of test involves using a test tone CD. Basically what a test tone CD does is providing a selection of MP3 files that are compressed into a zip file, downloaded by the user, and unzipped before testing. MP3 tone files are played at one-second intervals and 1Hz increments; from 20Hz up to 200Hz or 400Hz. completing the test is time consuming and requires the use of a Sound Pressure Level meter. The Sound Pressure Meter reveals how loud each tested frequency is as well as where the peaks and nulls exist within the tested frequencies.

For doing test, you just simply plug a microphone into the internal input and allows a self-test to determine sound levels. As a testing tool, acoustical correction using an input microphone takes a range of frequencies and averages the energy of the tested frequency range from 100Hz up to 130Hz and provides a flat reading across the tested band wave. The downside is the averaging of a jagged frequency response with a lot of big peaks and nulls. The last clinical test is a filtered noise test that indicates problems with bass in the home theater room. The filtered noise test can help the home theater owner with the placement of bass traps to improve overall sound and enjoyment of the home theater environment.

Acoustics is complex and there are a lot of variables relative to sound component design and placement. The only way to find the best sound for any home theater space is to experiment

Woofers placement will produce the best sound possible.

By Janggun

Subwoofer, Once, when you are sitting in your seat hearing music and you have been shaken out of your seat by sound of bass that is the work of the subwoofer. In a surround sound the most important part of home theatre installations system is the bass.

You can buy speakers as a unit (separately), as there are many of complete audio system available in the market, it upon on you to decide on the best home theatre speakers and subwoofer which is match to your taste or style. But it is best for you to consider product which has already have a brand name in the market.

It is not impossible thing for you to find a best subwoofer, with a quality bass speaker; even you do not have an experience on choosing a good sound system. Basically when you are going to install home theatre speaker and sub woofer you will need one of a passive sub or an active woofer. An active sub has a separate power supply where as a passive subwoofer doesn’t need a separate power supply

An active subwoofer need powered amplifier which has built in subwoofer in order to boost the power going into subwoofer for larger and louder sound. Whereas a passive subwoofer no power amplifier in it. It takes power from another source usually it takes from home receiver or car receiver. The other difference is in set up, because an active subwoofer easier than a passive subwoofer. So if you are going an easy set up so you have to choose an active subwoofer because you just need on plug the cables.

Receiver and hook your speakers into it, then run the output from the DVD player to the Receiver. The larger the room, the more power in RMS Watt Output you will need. Since subwoofer produces the bass frequencies from 15Hz to 300Hz so it needs at least need 200 watts RMS. Best subwoofer usually has a response done to around 25Hz and is self-powered which means it has the amplifier built-in.

The Horizon Series HPS-12HO 12-inch subwoofer is power in a box. There’s no denying the HS 12HO is powerful, but it cannot be confused with a blunt instrument. The front baffle’s gently curving surface minimizes diffraction. The woofer assembly features a low-mass poly cone and is heavily braced against the rear cabinet wall. The ABS cabinet itself is extensively ribbed to reduce unwanted resonances. Equipped with a 12-inch woofer cone and a high-output front firing, rear ported DCD driver

Subwoofer is a speaker which designed to produce the lowest range of audible of sound frequencies. So when sometime you need to buy subwoofer, kindly advised that you have to consider the space on which you are going to plan place the subwoofer. The other thing should you consider are what is the amount of power impedance or current resistance that your subwoofer need to operate, and beside that one that you should carefully consider is subwoofer’s ohm ratings which match to your sound system application specifications.

Because ohm ratings or level mean that how stand it resist to the flow of electricity within a circuit.

When we have actual circuit resistance or ohm values which are lower or higher than the speakers require, it would affect the quality of sound.

Of course opinions as to what is better than what or the best in anything are always a matter of preference. Disclaimer aside however, one has to admire a company that has risen to overtake many of its rivals purely on consumer enthusiasm and word of mouth promotion, and there is no doubt that Kenwood 12 Subwoofers have built a formidable presence in the car audio marketplace.

12 subwoofers are very popular, especially with people running multiple subwoofers.

Check this kind of information on subwoofers right here !

Are Kenwood 12 Subwoofers the Best Around? : Kenwood KFC-W3011 1200-Watt 12-Inch Subwoofer

Replaced a older sub comp 12 with this kenwood 12 & see the difference,
which more bass than what you imagine, using a jl-500/1v2
amp to push this one 12″ way more bass than you are going to stick with
one 12″ no need for 2 12″

Sound quality is excellent at all volume levels and even at absolute max volume with the bass totally boosted on my amp’s + 12db knob there is no clipping or distorting whatsoever and the thing totally thumps every seat in your car.
